Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: November 5, 2026
We sell travel provided by airlines and other suppliers, so most refund and change rules are set by them. This policy explains how that works with FlightsScanner.ca, operated by Flights Scanner Inc.
1. 24-Hour Cancellation
Both of the following apply only when your departure date is at least 7 days after your booking date. Otherwise, the airline’s fare rules and penalties apply as soon as the ticket is issued.
| Paid in | When you can cancel | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian dollars (CAD) | Same calendar day the ticket is issued, before midnight Eastern Time | Full refund |
| US dollars (USD) | Within 24 hours of ticket issuance | Full refund |
Please contact us during phone hours. Our phone hours end at 8 p.m. Mountain Time, which is 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Requests made outside business hours are treated as received on the next business day, so contact us before our phones close to make sure we can process your request in time.
2. Flight Tickets After the 24-Hour Period
Fare rules decide. Every fare has its own rules, which we’ll explain before you pay. Many discounted fares are non-refundable or only partly refundable, and some can’t be changed at all.
Refundable fares. We’ll submit your refund request to the airline or consolidator. We pay your refund once we receive it, less any airline penalties and our service fee.
Non-refundable fares. These generally have no cash refund. Some airlines may let you keep the unused value as a credit, less change fees. Government taxes and airport fees may be refundable on an unused ticket even when the fare is not. We can check this for you.
Changes. Date, time or route changes are subject to airline change fees, fare differences and our service fee.
Name changes. Airlines generally don’t allow them. Minor spelling corrections may be possible, depending on the airline.
Unused tickets and no-shows. If you miss a flight without cancelling first, the rest of your ticket may lose all value.
3. Our Service Fees
We may charge a service fee for booking, changing, cancelling or reissuing travel. We’ll tell you the amount of any fee before you pay.
Service fees are earned when the service is performed. They are non-refundable, except:
- When you receive a full refund under Section 1
- When we made an error
- When we state otherwise in writing
If we need to change or cancel a booking because of our own mistake, we won’t charge a service fee to correct it.
4. How to Request a Cancellation or Refund
- Contact us as soon as possible by phone at (780) 999-1155 or by email at contact@flightsscanner.ca. Include your booking reference and the lead traveller’s name.
- We’ll confirm in writing what the rules allow, including any penalties and fees, before we act.
- Once you approve, we’ll submit your request to the airline or supplier.
Cancellation requests take effect only when we confirm them in writing. Airline rules may apply from the time of your request, so please contact us promptly.
5. Refund Timing and Method
- Refunds go back to your original form of payment.
- Airlines and consolidators can take one to two billing cycles, and sometimes longer, to process refunds.
- Once we receive funds from the supplier, we aim to pass them on to you within 7 business days.
- Refund amounts can be affected by exchange rates, supplier penalties and card processing fees charged to us.
6. Airline Changes and Cancellations
If an airline cancels your flight or makes a significant schedule change, you may be entitled to rebooking or a refund under the airline’s policy and applicable rules, including Canada’s Air Passenger Protection Regulations.
Contact us and we’ll help you request the option that suits you. When the airline approves a refund, we’ll pass it on in full, and we won’t charge a service fee for helping with an airline-initiated cancellation.
7. Chargebacks
Please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank. We’d like to resolve any concern quickly, and we can provide documents for your bank if needed.
To the extent the law allows, an unjustified or fraudulent chargeback may lead to cancellation of the affected ticket or pending travel arrangements, recovery of amounts owing, and related costs.
8. Events Beyond Anyone’s Control
For events such as natural disasters, pandemics, border closures or strikes, the supplier’s policy applies. We’ll help you pursue available credits or refunds, but we can’t guarantee them.
9. Your Legal Rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
